Follow-up on the Last Supper

Question

Thanks so much for that straight forward answer, and that is EXACTLY what i was looking for. When I brought this question up previously, another individual answered me in a totally different way. He told me that it was mentioned in Surah Maidah. I was wondering if there was any truth to that.

Response

There is mention of a request by the disciples of Jesus (pbuh) in Surah Al-Maidah where they ask him to show them a miracle by having God send down a table spread with food ('Maidah'- hence the name of the Surah.)

"When the disciples said: O Jesus, son of Mary! Is your Lord able to send down for us a table spread with food from heaven? He said: Observe your duty to Allah, if you are true believers. (They said:) We wish to eat thereof, that we may satisfy our hearts and know that you have spoken truth to us, and that thereof we may be witnesses. Jesus, son of Mary, said: O Allah, Lord of us! Send down for us a table spread with food from heaven, that it may be a feast for us, for the first of us and for the last of us, and a sign from You. Give us sustenance, for you are the Best of Sustainers. Allah said: Lo! I send it down for you. And whoever disbelieve from among you after that, I surely punish him with a punishment wherewith I have not punished any of (My) creatures." (Quran 5:112-115)

However even the fulfillment of this wish of the disciples is not stated in Quran, let alone it be regarded as the Last Supper. The onus of proving it so lies on the person who proposed this in the first place. Both Quran and Ahadith of the prophet (pbuh) are devoid of any such implications, and neither can this be derived from the Bible. Therefore, in my opinion, this incident is not at all related to the Last Supper.
